Who are we?

A husband & wife team (have been for 28 years now ♥♥) with our daughters, who are very much a part of our team with their creative insights.

Most of the creations are crafted by me, but Hubby is always there to give encouragement, inspiration, and provide technical guidance and all round support & business advice.

I'm a craft addict. I love all things creative, crafty & arty.

Over the years I have experienced many crafts, but my ultimate favourites are chandlery (professional candle making), pyrography (wood burning), glass engraving and now stained glass to create functional homeware & accessories. These are the ones I specialise in.

We're fully insured and CLP compliant.

©MerriWick is our own brand of items that celebrates all things seasonal and magical.

It's a celebration of love, life, family, the elements and our amazing planet.

The word Merri is Old English, meaning joyful. 'Wick' felt like the perfect addition on the end because candles are often a part of a celebration.

It is also where we (as a company) started. We love the Medieval heritage sound of it too.

 

What do we do?

 

We're a small independent creative business that loves to create and bring to life home accessories, professional grade home fragrance and homeware gifts.

We work very hard behind the scenes perfecting pieces that are great for yourself or gifting to others.

Our online shop contains a myriad of pieces including faux plant arrangements, keyrings, wall signs, coasters, ornaments... and so much more.

Recently, we decided to focus more on home fragrance, pyrography, glassware & home décor.

We have items for everyone & every budget without compromise.

We've a great selection, whether you're looking for a gift or a little self indulgence.

 

Where are we based?

Buckinghamshire is where we call home and we love it.

We love the elements of country life combined with modern town life.

Connecting with nature without travelling very far certainly is a blessing.

Being an independent creative business, the mum-boss to-do list is endless!

So I tend to be very busy either in my little workshop/studio, at my desk or living the mum life and doing mum things!

We love our local craft fairs - it's always a delight to meet customers in person.

Why do we do it?

Handmade is special.

Handcrafted items always have that extra special touch.

More than ever now, mental health and well being are so important. Don't forget to look after yourself.

Connecting with others is very important - even if it is just a phone call.

Simply adding a little 'something new' or giving a small gift can give us a much needed lift.

We can post gifts on your behalf if you'd like to treat a loved one or friend.

Gift boxes or gift wrap are usually included with all items - if it is for you, it should still feel special, because we all deserve to feel special.

In my own crazy busy world, a little retail therapy isn't selfish - but it is necessary!

If you have any specific requests regarding gift wrapping, please let us know when you place your order.

We use biodegradable & recyclable packaging wherever we can. And we do reuse cardboard boxes when posting items.

 

How?

I am forever scribbling down ideas & writing in my notebooks!

I sketch out my pyrography (wood burning), and glass designs, alongside everything else.

When it comes to home fragrance, I am very fussy.

All of our candles are hand created using only professional grade, so that means pure quality soy wax, professional grade fragrance oils and wicks.

I have been a professional candle maker (not a lockdown hobbyist) for over six years.

I still love the journey as I expand my knowledge & expertise.

Performance tests are routinely carried out. If I'm not happy with the results - back to the beginning!

This (slightly mad!) obsession produces beautiful luxury soy container candles with a clean burn & great fragrance throw that lasts - this part is very important.

I craft all our candles in small amounts - they are not mass produced or stocked elsewhere.

So some items are on a pre-order basis only which will take 5 - 10 days.

Our diffusers are blended using professional grade formulas & fibre reeds.

Our new room sprays also contain eco friendly, professional grade fragrance oil.

We also make pyrographed pieces, stained glass pieces and some other items to order.
